Again some sunday coocking

Today was again a nice day good for coocking and I called my Dad for the recipe of a regional recipe which is sour meat which is especially tasty together with fries. It involes a lot of ingredients for which I don’t actually know the name, but I’ll give it a try:

  •  Beef in chunks
  • Cloves
  • Vinegar
  • Dutch Appelstroop (which is some kind of condensed apple sirup)
  • Juniper berries
  • Laurel Leaves
  • Ginger Bread
  • Onion

Put water and vinegar together untill you get some kind of sour water, but not to sour and put the meat in there together with the cloves, juniper berries and the laurel leaves and put it in the fridge for at least 12 hours.

Start the cooking with the cutting the onions and heat some butter in the pan and fry the onions until they are really brownish and have become relatively sweet. Get the beef out of the marinade and put some extra butter and cook the meat till it is nice and brown. And add the water to it and just let it cook for at least two hours and then add the apple stuff until it’s somewhat sour and sweet and again stir and let it cook for some time.

One hour before you serve it, at some ginger bread to bind the sauce and stir good. Serve it with some fries and enjoy it.
