About me

First about the names blog and how i got it’s name. To be honest, very simple, I stared onto my bookshelf and saw the title of one of my favorite books “Neverness” from David Zindell. Those that haven’t read it yet, go out and read it, I like it a lot and once a year grab it of the shelf and reread it. (You always find new stuff when rereading books).

Well now about myself. In real life my name is Robbie van der Blom, I was born and raised in the southern part of the Netherlands (Maastricht to be exactly), and went to Tilburg University. I was drafted for military service (yes i was the last one and we closed the doors as we now have a “professional” army), and started working for Andersen Consulting in the summer of 1996. After several name changes and internal transfers, I started my own business on the first of January 2005 and left Accenture.

My companies name is OpesiX and you can find it’s website at www.opesix.com. I’ve also got a blog over there which is more targetted at what I’m doing. I’ve got one more blog which is describing my training for the NYC marathon which I plan to run in 2008. (first and foremost I need to loose some weight before I’m confident I can run the marathon again, as I already ran it in 2004).

Starting your own business is very rewarding, but I won’t be writing about that. What I will be writing about is about stuff I see, encounter on the web and which i deem interesting. Sometimes it’s just something that got my interest and made me think and sometimes it will be something that annoys me when reading other blogs or tech sites. Sometimes it will be just pictures etc. which I’ve uploaded from my Nokia.
